Dead To Self Radio delivers high-quality Christian hard rock and metal from the 1980s to today. Streaming worldwide to thousands of dedicated music fans every day with one of the largest playlists around, Dead To Self Radio is committed to providing safe and quality entertainment. Established in 2011 by internet radio veteran Tom Johns and web designer/programmer Nathaniel Dragon, Dead To Self Radio promotes music seldom heard on the FM band. We not only want to feature the best in Christian hard rock and metal but we want to deliver great music to the people so that they can support independent artists.

You can find us on SHOUTcast (Christian Metal), tunein, and most other online radio directories. You can also listen on your iPhone, iPod Touch, BlackBerry, Smartphone, PSP, or Wii. There has been some debate regarding which artists should or should not have music played on a Christian radio station, but at Dead To Self Radio, our goal is to provide an alternative to secular rock and metal radio stations. We want to deliver music for entertainment, provided that the presentation does not contradict our Christian faith. Not all of the music that we feature on Dead To Self Radio is considered "Christian music" but may be performed by artists who are Christians or by bands that have Christian members in them and their music does not contradict our faith, morals, or beliefs.

Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.

Obituaries

Tom

Station Owner | Program Director | Web Developer

Tom started banging his head back in his teen years to bands like Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ozzy, and many more 80s metal bands. Tom was later introduced to righteous rockers, Petra, Rez, Sweet Comfort Band, and Stryper and has been rockin' for God ever since.

Tom has been involved in radio since the late 1980s; he hosted a weekly Christian rock/metal show called "Heavenly Metal" for about three years at a local radio station in his hometown.

Tom has been involved with internet radio since 2004 and has built and managed two successful online radio stations, The Refinery Rock Radio (R.I.P. 2011) and Fuel Radio.

Tom is also a self-taught web developer and graphics designer and has built his own websites with the help of his friend and radio partner, Nathaniel Dragon. Tom is an IT for a very large aeronautical company and is currently earning his master's degree in network management.

Tom has been married to his wonderful wife for over twenty-six years, has four children and a grandson. Tom enjoys hard music and has been collecting music since the 1980s and enjoys sharing it with the world through his internet radio stations.


Nathaniel

Station Manager | Web Programmer

Nathaniel has been a metalhead for about 20 years, but enjoys a broad spectrum of music that falls under the hard rock and metal genres, and even some that doesn't. During his teen years, he learned to play guitar, and enjoyed tapping a beat on just about any surface when an impromptu jam session was needed to keep his sanity.

For one year, in 1996, Nathaniel joined a band as a vocalist (aka "screamer"). Unfortunately, the band was comprised entirely of guys in the Marines who were often split up due to deployment and other field exercises, so, although it was an enjoyable experience at times, it was a lot of work with too many gaps to make it fruitful.

In 1999, Nathaniel started teaching himself to do web design. After spending five years in IT, doing Network Operations and Technical Support, he decided to go into web development full time. He completed his Associate in Science for Computer Programming and Analysis, specializing in Web Development. He now works as a full time Web Developer, working daily with PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, and other languages and systems.

In 2008, Nathaniel joined Tom to redefine two Christian Metal internet radio stations, The Refinery Rock Radio and Fuel Radio. Together, Tom and Nathaniel
have honed their skills and worked hard to make their stations/websites the best
Christian Metal outreach on the internet.
