Fades Away

Country: United States of America
Genre: Alternative Rock/Alternative Metal
For Fans Of: Linkin Park

Fades Away is a high energy, original hard rock band out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The band began as a four piece group back in 2008 with David Erickson on vocals, Matt Mahlen on drums, John Laing on guitar, and Steve Daniels on bass. Each member's different musical and personal background provided the building blocks for Fades Away's unique style. Integrating genres ranging from classical and jazz, to hard rock and blues, Fades Away collaborates to create their raw yet melodic sound.
In addition to an enormous passion for music, the common ideal that brought Fades Away together was the desire to help others with their music. It is through sharing the life experiences and beliefs of each member through the music of Fades Away that provided the connection and approachability that the fans of the band have come to know and love.
The band has established themselves in the Midwest region. Since the release of "You'll Never Take Me Alive" in 2008, the fan base continued to grow rapidly. An extremely intense live performance (which happened to contain back flips by multiple members) always engaged the crowd and kept the fans coming back hungry for more! Fades Away has had the privilege of sharing the stage with artists such as Project 86, Spoken, HANDS, Write This Down, Children 18:3, The Suit, and many more.
The band added second guitarist, Jonathan Sutton and released their second album, "Perceptions" in 2010. The album spent eight weeks featured in various prime locations on iTunes' genre pages (namely the Metal and Christian & Gospel pages) and sold thousands of units.
After Perceptions, the band experienced a lineup change as guitarists Jonathan Sutton and John Laing departed the band to pursue other interests. Guitarist Brett Verlennich joined the lineup in place of the departed guitar duo.
The band signed to Voluminous Records in April, 2013 and released the single, "Creature" and then just became conspicuously absent from the scene for several years. Having landed licensing deals which led to exposure on CBS's NFL and NCAA sportscasts and elsewhere, it seemed the world was their oyster. But life circumstances diverted the band's course and left hungry fans clamoring for more. After two marriages, a change in lineup and a side project or two, the veteran Alternative Metal band released the single, "The Rose" and announced a new album was in the works with original members David Erickson, bassist Steve Daniels, drummer Matt Mahlen and newcomer, guitarist Brett Verlennich, who debuted with the band on "Creature".
