Larm! turns focus to life and longing for heaven on first album in English.
Christian music veterans record album "Killing Time Season" to express their beliefs and views of the world around them.
If you would intend to put together a band comprised by a who's who of Christian musicians from the 80's and forward, you may very well end up with large parts of the line-up of Larm! Simon Ådahl, Anders Mossberg, Dan Tibell and Klas Anderhell are indeed some of the most well-known Christian musicians not only in their native country of Sweden, but also throughout Europe and the US. Complemented by Örjan Armgren and Johnny Lennartson, the four have found renewed inspiration and motivation to keep going after decades of musicianship in different settings. Simon and Anders, who have a combined experience of close to 100 years making music, agree that what makes Larm! special is the relationships and having a common purpose.
"We have all worked so many years in the Christian music scene and never given up the vision of spreading the gospel about Jesus, says Simon Ådahl, who is probably most well-known from his work with the band EdinÅdahl which in itself spanned close to 20 years. The band Larm! has the credibility and the drive to maintain that vision." - To me, adds Anders, "it's nowadays all about the people I work with. We need to pull in the same direction. We will pull in different ways and we may not always agree about how we do the pulling, but the direction has to be agreed on. And that direction is towards Jesus and thru that example shining his light through my life. Most of the band members have contributed to writing the songs on the album. Tossed in between new songs are also a couple of favourites from band members' earlier bands, such as "I'm waiting" which was recorded by mentioned EdinÅdahl and "Flower", which was initially recorded by Mossberg's previous band Jerusalem."
The main body of the music was recorded live in the studio, just like in the good old days. Vocals and some keyboard add-ons and solos that were recorded separately blend in and adds to the sense of urgency and intensity of the songs. One listen to the album will not only reveal the clear focus on Jesus. Another apparent theme is heaven and the longing for creation and life being made new.
When asked about picking one specific song that summarizes the message of the album, Anders admits "it's not easy since each song has its' own story. Still he refers to the title track "Killing Time Season" as significant."
The first thing Jesus said to the disciples after his resurrection was "peace be with you". And in this day and age, I lack peace, Anders points out. The world is full of false ways to kill time, of ways to lose focus. Possibly more than ever. And me, I long for some Jesus-peace."
