In 1989 Holy Soldier signed to Myrrh Records, an imprint of Word/A&M, as that label's first Hard Rock act. Their eponymous self-titled debut, produced by David Zaffiro, was released in 1990 to critical acclaim and moderate commercial success.
Holy Soldier went on a creative run that rivals any in Hard Rock music. Holy Soldier routinely turns up on lists of the greatest Christian Hard and Metal albums of all time, and deservedly so. In support of the release, the band launched a tour that reached over 60 cities across the U.S., Japan and Canada. The album went on to sweep the Hard Rock award categories at the 1991 Dove Awards taking home Hard Rock Album and Hard Rock Recorded Song of the year.

Reviews For "Holy Soldier"

Holy Soldier by Holy Soldier is a Classic by a Classic!

I still remember when this album was released, just like it were yesterday. This album is so polished and well produced. HS were amazing and I love every song on here. David Zaffiro from Bloodgood produced this and actually wrote most of the songs. Holy Soldier got a lot of flack from that but sometimes bands just need a little boost to get going. You cannot take away from their talent.
"Stranger" is an excellent song and was actually the first single off of their S/T CD.
"See No Evil" is a great song about abortion from the baby's point of view.
"The Pain Inside Of Me" is a great ballad, Stephen Patrick sings with conviction and emotion, great song.
"Tear Down The Walls" is one of my favorite songs, it's a fast rocker with a cool beat and great hooks.
"Eyes Of Innocence" is another great ballad, more on the acoustic side. I love this song, another one of my favorites.
This album is a must in any metal collection so if you can find it, get it!!!
