Reviews For "Knights Of The Revival"

Great new album by a great new band.

I just got this album from the band and after several listens, here is my review on the Dayton, Ohio's hard rock/metal release. The album starts off with a short intro which has a nice haunting piano and keyboard sound. Then the next song is one of my favorites on the album. It's called "Red" and it rocks! This is a smokin' metal tune that has a nice drivin' rhythm to it. "We all bleed red, we all bleed red, we all bleed RED!". It almost has a thrash breakdown... love it! Whoa!!! And a guitar solo! The next song is "Faith". It is a medium tempo rocker and it does just that... rocks! I love this band's sound... hard, heavy and in your face. Vocalist Jack Emrick has a cool voice and Benny Bodine's guitar work is excellent... another solid tune. "Hold On" is the next track and it has a nice hard psychedelic doomy feel to it. "Hold on, hold on... the promise of His love will set you free"... I love the straight up in your FAITH lyrics of this band! Drummer Eddie Ling and bass player Ed Girard are no slouches in this band. This is one of those bands that just rock together and roll on like a well oiled machine. Next song is "Perfect Life". This is a nice mid-tempo rocker... almost anthem like. It also has an almost thrash feel around the middle of the song before going into a nice shout-out of Hey!...Hey!...Hey!... and then back into the chorus. Great song! "Somewhere To Run To" starts of with a nice acoustic ballad feel before breaking into an electric, slower-tempo rocker. It has a nice solo in the middle of it. Not a bad song at all. The next song is "Let Love". This is a slower tune but kicks in hard. "Let love rain on me." This is a really good song. I love the guitar solo... almost reminds me of GNR's Slash. "Save Me" is another mid-tempo rocker. This song is another one of my favorites and has that nice, hard, drivin' feel to it. About halfway through the song we get another almost thrash groove... Dang! This is some good stuff... The next song is "Broken Man" and it is a little faster pace than most of the songs and it rocks! Bang head here X. This is one of those songs that can get a crowd pumped up. Could be the band's anthem song. "Home" is a ballad and really showcases Emrick's range. The song has a nice "live" feel to it. The next song is "Shine". It is a mid-tempo, hard drivin', guitar wailin', top of lung shoutin'... well, you get it. This song rocks! "You are the light of my life so just shine...". This song slows down a little bit in the middle with a nice chorus before Bodine breaks out a nice screaming guitar solo. The last song is "Fade". It starts off balladic with a nice haunting guitar lead and slow, harmonic vocals... and then... it hits. "Over and over and over again. Scratching and clawing and fighting again..." Then back to balladic. Then it builds up once more but this time after the build up, it stays a little on the harder side. I really like this song even though it is the longest song on the album, it keeps my interest. Nice guitar solo a little over halfway through. The second half of the song stays on the harder side fading out with some nice fret work... Overall, this is one of my favorite releases of the year. Great first effort by the band. Give them a listen by requesting their songs here on D2S and check them out and buy their music...
